Some of our guys went up for the 145th and said it was some hot in that wool up there and the camp was along way from the battle but was well worth it to see it

I was a bit dissapointed by the numbers there and lack of space, there were nearly 1400 in the charge at the 135th. now planning for the 150th.

Dave: uncanny resemblance! I never thought of a comparison with my relatives of the period. I shall have to look into that.
Terry: Nice look to that tintype.

Malpaso: Ha, ha - I hear you on that one. I keep wondering why my dad so often shows up in pictures of my family, and then I realize it is me!

BB & Malpaso - who were the photographers that made your tintypes?
I like the plain field set-up in Malpaso's photograph - simple and effective. The matte is cool too.
Brass
p.s. for TD - Indeed, we do run with the same circles. I know Don S. has a great miner impression. My Maria and I were going to road trip out to AZ to see if we could get some tintypes made of him and his pards but it didn't work out. It would very likely be that had it worked out I would have met you in person methinks.

Malpaso - sounds like a deal. The guy who made your photograph knew what he was doing for sure. I'm guessing it was a very hot day when it was made which makes the results all that much more impressive to me. I figure it was Harrington or Gibson though I could be wrong.

The photographer was Bob Zebo, but the other that posed me was Todd Harrington. The setup was a large tent with an open front and just a backdrop that was draped down and laid under your feet, lot of natural light.

It is a small world Brass. Where in the midwest do you live. I am interested in getting some images struck and I travel a lot with work. If I come through your neck of the woods, I'd like to stop by. If you are here in California, please call on my hospitality.

Dave: Both Brass and I live in southeastern Michigan, somewhat west of the dystopia known as Detroit. You are certainly welcome to the spare bunk at my place if you ever find yourself passing through.

T.D. As my good pard Mr Hunt indicated we're both in Michigan though he's in a much nicer area near Ann Arbor. Ditto on Mr Hunt's words - you have a place to bunk for sure if you're in our neck of the woods.
I travel for work a lot too - just a couple weeks ago I was in the Point Loma area of San Diego for work related activities and seem to find myself at the Yuma Proving Grounds a couple times per year. Next time I'm out your way I'll holler - certainly no guarnatees on a dram of whiskey together but I'll let you know just-in-case.
