Yes it is a big beasty as i said this one is 58 cal. You know i have been trying to get rid of this gun for about ten years at a real low price., but now i think i will keep it and use it more.

Now that i am going to keep it i was thinking of stipping off the factory finish, which i believe is Beech and giving it a more oiled look. I was also wonedering if i could do something like a tiger stipe on it. any ideas?

You mean like on a Leman? I havent tried aquafortis on anything but maple so dont know how that would do but do know that beechwood can sometimes show specs when stained and there is a posibility that whats on there is some kind of stain varnish like is used on alot of furniture because furniture unlike guns have wood from more than one tree on them and can stain different colors as some wood is light and some dark that way it comes out the same because it really isnt stained all the color is in the clearcoat .Back to the Leman I been knocking the idea around of building one even bought a broken butstock from an original gun for the patchbox and butplate .
